The Old School Sales Method That Beats The Pants Off Of The Internet

Back in the 90s, you used to hear a lot of business experts talking about how old school sales methods were going to die away as the internet took over the world.  Everything was going to be point and click as there was going to be no more:

  • Junk mail
  • Catalogues
  • Door-to-door salesmen
  • Phone sales

Then a funny thing happened on the way to this Internet Utopia.  Although there’s a lot less door-to-door salesmen and it doesn’t look like they’re coming back either, the death of other forms of sales were greatly exaggerated.

Junk mail is now a very profitable way to make sales if you know what you’re doing.  This is because there’s less competition than there used to be.

For phone sales, if you talk to the savviest marketers around, including the savviest internet marketers around, they’ll tell you that their highest closing rates are not from point and click but from phone sales.  I was reading Doberman Dan’s newsletter just the other day.  He emphatically stated that his highest closing ratio always comes from the phone.  Not just sometimes but always.
