A Shady Sales Tactic To Avoid Like The Plague

This may sound counter intuitive but it works and you’ll sleep better.  There’s a common saying in selling which you may have heard before.  It goes something like this: “Sell them what they want, then give them what they need.”  So, in essence, people want to push a button and watch truckloads of cash flood into their bank accounts.

So, likely, you may have seen quite a few people selling the push button promise online.  Yet, when you get inside their actual blueprint to do it, you’re met with 1,001 steps you need to actually follow through and setup first.  It’s anything but push button and simple, right?

I don’t know if it’s just me but that seems quite manipulative.  That’s like acting and being a certain way on the surface just to attract your husband or wife.  Then once you’ve got them inside the marriage vows and they’ve said, “I do”?  You let go of yourself and are a completely different person as you had let on.  It’s much better to just get ahead of things.  Tell people how it’s going to be.  Exactly what to expect, the good, the bad and the ugly.  Being straight forward will set you apart and you’ll be a fresh breath of air for people which can result in more sales headed your way as a nice side effect of simply being straight forward from the get go.

What type of person do you want to attract and help out anyways?  A person that wants the world for nothing?  Or someone willing to roll up their sleeves and do a little bit of leg work first so that they can get what they want in life, real results.  It’s all about selling transformation (results) over information (push button tactics) by being straightforward and putting it all out in the table.

Meet Your Two Allies If You’re Procrastinating

No more procrastinating,  Maybe more income and more time off to enjoy life.  If you’d like to add an extra stream of regular income and work way less?  It’s not all about external systems and steps.  Managing the internal game is just as important.  There’s two internal friends you’ll need to shake hands and get along with every day.  I call them CEO you and instant gratification monkey you.

The CEO is the thinker and planner.  When you’re the CEO you, it takes up a lot of your energy and bandwidth so you can’t stay in that role for very long.  The gratification monkey is easily distracted.  He can get what you need done but you must give him very specific tasks, deadlines and spicy rewards.  Together, they’re a powerful duo like Batman and Robin, Hans Solo and Chewbacca and Holmes and Watson.  You get the point.

So, how do you do it?  It’s simple but easy to forget.  The gratification monkey doesn’t think well.  So you must eliminate the thinking work needed to accomplish what you want.  Just like you’d hand over a manual for a teenager to run a McDonald’s where he’ll know step by step what to do with no guesswork or planning required.  So, let’s say you need to set up a landing page to start getting daily leads.  Then you want to start with a $5 a day in FB ads to send to your page.  So, CEO you plans, your strategy and it doesn’t have to take more than 5 to 10 minutes of your time.  He’s just getting things ready to hand over to the instant gratification monkey.  To do examples are:

  • Log in to landing page software
  • Pick a landing page design
  • Look at 10 other landing pages for ideas and inspiration
  • Write benefit driven headline that solves a current pain people are facing
  • Write the rest of the ad out in 30 minutes
  • Link to auto responder account
  • Log in to FB Ads

I’m sure you get the idea.  Then, you step out of CEO role and enter the gratification monkey role.  Your job isn’t to think anymore.  It’s simply to do it and to execute.  There’s little brain work required at this point of only doing the tasks.  The nice thing is if you give it a job to do in a specific period of time like you’ve only got an hour a day to do this, then you give it a reward when it’s done, something meaningful and that will excite you even if it’s a small thing.  You’ll be much more likely to do it.

The Smoke And Mirrors To Online Business

The real shortcut is knowing is there is a common thread spun in this biz.  Finding shortcuts and hacks so you can get to wealth and freedom faster.  Yet, how’s that working out for most folks?  Not, well at all.  Most think that the opposite of a shortcut is a long, drawn out path to the results they want but that’s just not the case.  It’s just the opposite actually.

Think of it this way, say you’re headed off to the grocery store and you won’t leave your home until you find the quickest path one where there are no red lights, stop signs or any chance of road work, accidents etc.  You’d never get out of the driveway, would you?  What’s the real shortcut or path to take here?  It’s to get in your car and drive straight to the store with the best path you know to take.  You expect to hit a few stop signs, red lights, green lights and maybe even to get stuck in traffic for a beat.  That’ll be ok, right?  Author and professor at Columbia University, Janna Levin, says this: “I used to resent obstacles along the path, thinking. ‘If only that hadn’t happened life would be so good.’  Then I suddenly realised, life is the obstacles.  There is no underlying path.”

Is this making sense?  The underlying path, the hack and the trick?  It’s that there is none.  Embrace the obstacles.  The red lights and stop signs and wrecks.  Walk the required walk because that’s reality.  That’s life and as you build a side business that can give you an amazing life and a great income, you don’t need hacks and tricks.  You just need a plan and a willingness to see it through with all the red lights and stop signs.  There will be plenty of green lights and shortcuts you’ll come across if you just get your wheels rolling and you’re in gear and steering your car.

Another great piece of advice I heard, blunt as it sounds is to figure it out.  Whatever barriers you come across know you’re in the Information Age.  Google it, YouTube it, get a book or a course in it, stumble your way through it, in short, figure it out.  Just make sure you’re in the moment as you do it.  Figure it out along the way.  That’s the greatest hack I know of that I can give you today.

Escaping the hype, noise and overwhelm and start getting sales.  Let’s face it.  Here’s a bit of truthful tea.  There is a lot of hype and noise in the world these days and it can really strike havoc in our hectic lives.  Too much work, too many new shows on Netflix to keep up with and there’s so, so, soo many social media outlets to keep up with.  That’s just the start.  There’s no shortage of noise and systems to follow online either, is there?  It can be hard to know where to invest our time and which systems deserve our full attention, we’re also time starved these days and we need something that works if it’s going to get our full attention.

Tired Of Trading Time For Dollars?

If escaping the grind feels uncomfortable, I know this can sound odd but for most of us, we were raised and educated to trade time for dollars.  It can make it hard at times to let go and accept the flow that leverage can bring to our lives.  It just doesn’t feel natural to us.  When I say let go, I’d love for you to think of it this way.  Imagine yourself taking a family vacation to a pristine beach.  You’re out in the clear blue ocean waters.  You’re got a large, red and blue striped beach ball in your hands and you want to keep it on your face.  You’re holding it tight and you’re pushing it under the water so you don’t see it.  However, this is a lot of work.  This creates a lot of resistance in your life.  The ball naturally wants to pop back up out of the water.  However, if you just let it go, pretty soon, the waves and wind will carry it off and it won’t be an issue anymore.

For so many of us, we hold onto things like that beach ball.  Yet, just letting go can allow us to release and take a deep sigh of relief.  Then we can recalibrate.  We can open ourselves up to many other much more amazing things to grasp and hold onto more effortlessly:

  • Freedom?
  • Income?
  • Lifestyle?

Part of the process is letting go of the 9-5 job mentality that most are holding close to their bodies.  Just let that beach ball go and watch it drift off into the sunset, it’s not for you.  Then you can accept the greater things the waves may drift your way.
