It’s simple math really.  You’d have to sell 10,000 $50 items with a $10 margin just to make $50,000.  You’d only have to sell 11 or 12 $5,000 items with a $4,500 margin to make $50,000.  You’re probably thinking, that’s fine but I can’t:

  • Find a $5,000 item to sell
  • Create a $5,000 item to sell
  • Sell something that expensive even if I did

You may think selling something that expensive is really, really hard.  The answer to all those objections is: “You have to find someone who is already selling something that fits those criteria.”  You have to find someone who already has a proven “sales funnel” for a high-priced, high-profit product.  This benefits you in so many ways:

  • A funnel that converts leads into buyers
  • You don’t sell that product
  • You don’t sell anything

Smoking, Chocolate Cake And Your Online Success

In some countries, law requires that all cigarette boxes display these words: “Smoking kills.”  They’re on every box with big letters.  The hope is that people will be confronted with the truth about smoking.  It’s unhealthy and maybe that will stop them from doing it.  Yet, people still buy the cigarettes and smoke them.

It’s similar with chocolate cakes.  You might as well put on cake boxes: “Cake kills.”  A lot of people will still eat it.  So, why is that?  Why do we eat cake when we know it’s bad for us.  Even when we know we’re forfeiting future health?  It’s because we want immediacy over quality.  People eat chocolate cake to get immediate pleasure.  Choosing to not eat chocolate cake may lead to bigger, better rewards but sometimes it can take a while before you get to experience those rewards.  The reward of the chocolate cake is now.

A 9-5 is like chocolate cake.  We don’t want it and yet we keep coming back to it, day after day.  It’s because we get immediate safety and a steady paycheck.  We’re unwilling to give things up.  Unwilling to give up the immediate payoff of 9-5.  We don’t really want a 9-5 but we can’t seem to give it up either.

There are bigger, better rewards than the supposed security of a 9-5 for example:

  • There is abundant money
  • More fulfilling work
  • Travel opportunity

The Most Important Question You Can Ask

There’s a lot of important questions.  You should know before you get started what your dreams and goals are.  You’ll also need to know how much income you’ll need to achieve those goals.

I encourage you to write down your lifestyle dreams.  It could be:

  • Wanting to spend more time with your family.  How much more?
  • Wanting to travel more?  To where and how often?
  • Wanting to quit your 9 to 5 job.  How soon?
  • Wanting to buy a new home, car or other big item.  How soon?

Then write down how much you need to make to achieve those dreams.  Is it $30,000 per year, $50,000 per year, $100,000 per year or $200,000 per year.

Another important question is: What are your income goals and can the business you select support those goals?  You’re never going to reach your business goals selling low priced and low profit products.  The only way to achieve big financial goals is to sell high-priced, high-profit products.  Products that can’t be found on Amazon or Walmart.  Prices that cannot be commoditized.  Products that can earn you commissions of 50%, 75% or even 90%.

If you have financial goals of exceeding $50,000 per year, think how long it would take you to your goals selling a $50 product with a 10% margin.  How many would you have to sell?  You’d have to sell 10,000.

If you sell products that cost $3,000 with a 90% margin, how many do you have to sell?  18.  From 10,000 down to 18.

Here’s the good news.  It’s not necessarily more difficult to sell a $3,000 product than it is to sell a $50 product.  In some ways, it’s even easier.

Why Most People Never Succeed?
