The Invasion Of The Cord-Nevers

Maybe you think that you are with the times.  Maybe you tell people: “Hey, I’m no square, Daddy-o”.  Maybe you have even gone as far as getting rid of your home phone line and have become what people are calling cord-cutters but there is another type of cord-cutter.  The type that cuts the cord to their cable and solely goes to streaming services like Netflix or Hulu.  These people not only exist but their numbers are growing and they are scaring the living hell out of cable companies.

There’s something even more wild coming in the future.  It’s the invasion of the cord-nevers.  As the millennial generation that first started getting rid of their cable grows older and reproduces, their children are going to grow up not having cable.  They won’t watch live news on T.V.  They will watch from their phones or recorded shows that are streamed.  They won’t have a favourite network or channel.  They will have a favourite app.  As Mr Dylan said: “The times they are a changin.”

So, why should you care?  It’s because the cord nevers are not going to just affect the cable industry.  They are going to affect every industry.  No network cable is just one example of how the cord-nevers are going to change things.  If an industry isn’t ready to provide their service to this new generation that expects things faster and easier then it’s not going to be pretty.  This is why you should care.  If you’re not ready for the times to change then you will be left in the dust.

Beware the academics.  The ones who are supposed to make complex things simple but who actually make things more complex.  Always fight that tendency inside of you which is the pull towards big, fancy words and complex ideas.  It’s a pull that most of us experience and one that we should fight.

Academics often have really good ideas but hide them behind needless technical jargon.  Consultants, scientists and all kinds of experts do this.  It’s like people think that the less clearly you communicate, the smarter you are.  The bigger the words you use, the harder it is to understand you and the more technical your jargon, the smarter you must be.  It’s nonsense.

As Einstein pointed out, you really don’t understand something until you can explain it to a 6 year old because the best ideas are the simplest things and the best products, services and businesses are the simplest ones.  So, whenever you’re making a decision to buy something, joining something or doing something and you’re weighing your options, ask yourself this question: “What is the simplest option?”

Beware of the brilliant plans which are shrouded in details, jargon and complexities.  The simpler, the better.  Is this simple or complex: “go through the system and start earning big commissions online.”  There’s no prior experience necessary, it’s step by step and you earn big commissions online.  It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to do any of that.

Mashed Potatoes And A Boatload Of Money

Did you eat a potato or a dish  that had a potato in it recently?  You have Antoine-Augustin Parmentier to thank.  Parmentier’s history as well as the history of the potato is interesting but you may find a little bit more interesting since you can learn how you can make thousands every month while working from your computer.

Parmentier lived in France in the 16th century.  During that time the potato was known to the French as food for pigs only and not something people should eat.  In fact, the French government made it illegal to grow potatoes out of fear that it caused Leprosy but Parmentier saw things a little differently.

When he was captured in the seven year war, he was forced to eat potatoes by his captors.  He returned to France with a new and unique appreciation of the potato.  He also saw that France and Europe were missing out on a crop that was nutritious and easy to grow.

So, Parmentier decided it was up to him to make the potato popular.  He entered competitions to prove that the potato was a good source of nutrients.  He hosted dinners where potato was a maid dish.  He even posted guards around potato fields so that people would think whatever was in the field was valuable and then told the guards to accept bribes from people who wanted to steal what was growing inside.

The rest is history.  Today the potato is one the most common sources of food in the world and several dishes are named after Parmentier because Parmentier thought outside of the box.  He didn’t just try and sell potatoes and hope they would catch on.  He didn’t go door to door and accept that few people wanted to try them.  He did something that other people wouldn’t have thought to do.

Now, what does all of this have to do with you?  If you want to make a fortune, you have to be like Parmentier.  You have to be willing to try different approaches that others might not even consider.  Now you have the chance to do that.
