How Are Homeless People Getting Jobs?

These new non-profits are popping up all over the place and hundreds of creative professionals are volunteering their skills: They’re writing resumes for homeless people or as they like to call them: “Urban Survival Specialists.”  So, I went to check it out.  It blew me away.  These homeless men and women are walking out of clinics with sexily designed resumes, incredibly catchy written out answers to common interview questions and generous new references.  Here’s a fact, some of these homeless guys are having more job search success than you.  Of course, they are.

Elementary Education Is Just Content Marketing

Children’s literature is just content marketing.  Your kid’s teachers pick books that preach the values they want your kids to learn and they read them out to the whole class.  Some parents choose bedtime stories that communicate the values they want their kids to grow up with.  Even adults read fewer books than children do, it’s the same story: All media moralizes especially the TV shows we sit in front of.

I’m not trying to make a judgement about the media we choose for ourselves and our children.  I just want us to realise that we do choose.  This tells us a big secret.  Content marketing is alive and kicking.  We’ve never doubted that and we’re making our partners commissions in the $1000s, $2000s or $4000s per month.

Stop buying and start selling.  Trust me, it feels a lot better over here.

Would You Party For 180 Days Straight?

Lots of cultures have traditions of multi-day parties:

  • Indians celebrate weddings for a whole week
  • Babylonian King Artaxerxes celebrated his monarchy with a 6 month feast
  • 6 million beer drinkers flock to Germany for the 17 day Oktoberfest
  • Need I mention all of the feasts from the Lord of the Rings?

So, why doesn’t every culture party like that?  On one hand, maybe it’s because half of you can’t touch gluten without dying.  On the other hand, maybe not enough of you have the expansive leisure or the fierce joy.  Let me put it simply: People don’t party because they can’t afford it.

Too many of you submit to stuffy jobs where you’re overworked, underappreciated and underpaid.  Your jobs take so much of your time and energy that you don’t have enough left to go to a barbecue let alone celebrate a life.

Don’t be a victim.  I want you to get in on the joy that our flexible work schedules and passive incomes permit us to have.  Being human means working but it also means partying.

This Difference Actually Matters

The Internet blew up over an international fast food controversy this month.  An American woman who ordered a “Lemonade” ripped her cashier a new one when she received a “Sprite” instead.  It turns out, some Australians don’t differentiate between the two which is pissing some Americans off.

This surprises me.  How are Americans so good at seeing the differences between soft drinks but so bad at seeing the difference between life giving jobs and life draining ones?  You can break out of your life draining job and start your own online business.

  • Set your own hours

A homeless man In New York City was just gifted a plane ticket home to join his family for a relative’s Christmas-time funeral.  The ticket came from an anonymous lady in Connecticut and neither party knew each other.  The story is beautiful but it should at least make you scratch your head.  How the heck:

  • Did this woman
  • Hear about this guy?
  • Learn the significant details of his story?
  • Become emotionally affected by it?
  • Reach him with a plane ticket?

One word: Awareness.  A professional writer in New York designed a Facebook post to go viral and without boosting it, it went viral.  By that gift, out of all the homeless people in New York, this guy gets to go home.
