The Biggest Trap For People Looking To Double Their Income

From the campaign trail to dinner table conversations, we hear about student debt nearly every day.  People are starting their careers off with student debt the size of a mortgage hanging around their neck just to get an education but that’s not the bottom of the barrel when it comes to higher education.

For-profit schools take that award.  Schools like DeVry University or ITT tech offer completely online courses to keep their overheads down and then charge tuition to their students with the promise that their degrees will be worth the costs when they get a better paying job but their degrees aren’t all their cracked up to be and they can come with all the debt of a regular degree because for-profit schools can be 6 times as expensive as community college and even twice as expensive as regular 4 year universities.

Why Being Worth More Than The Bank of China Won’t Solve Your Problems?

You’ve probably heard: “Money isn’t what matters” a million and a half times but no matter how many times people here it, they never seem to get it.  If you’re worth nearly $300 billion then there’s no such thing as a problem for you right?  After all, anyone who has worried if they have enough money to fill their gas tank and make it home will tell you that money sure does solve a lot of problems.

Ask John Stumpf if money is the cure for all problems.  He was the head of Wells Fargo which is a bank that’s worth almost $300 billion.  For perspective, that’s more than what the Bank of China is worth but all that money couldn’t save stumpf from retiring with a ruined reputation this week.  Wells Fargo has been in hot water over the past few weeks because regulators discovered that the banks nearly made 2 million fake accounts to charge their customers fees without their consent.  If that wasn’t bad enough, they were stealing money from their customers, several ex-Wells Fargo employees have said that they were fired for reporting the fake accounts and that their managers even encouraged them to make the fake accounts.

Who Needs Experience When You Have This In Your Back Pocket?

Have you seen this story about the Post Mates guy on Facebook yet?  Lukas Yla had just a few weeks of money to live off while he visited San Francisco to look for a marketing job with a tech company.  That would be difficult enough but Yla is also from Lithuania and has no business or education experience in America.

So, what was the first thing he did to get closer to finding a job?  He found a bakery that made good doughnuts and ordered a hamburger from the delivery service Post Mates.  You might think that he was just being lazy but Yla actually was laying the groundwork for a genius plan.

Yla tested out the Post Mates system so he could disguise himself and deliver the doughnuts which he also tested thoroughly to CEOs in the area.  He also snuck his resume into the box so that when they opened the box, they had to read it.  Yla even want as far as copying the Post Mates logo onto a t-shirt to complete his look.

So, what were the results?  Out of the 40 boxes he delivered, he landed 10 interviews including one with Post Mates after they heard his story.  CEOs could have kicked Yla out and Post Mates could have sued him for using their logo but because he was creative, Yla was rewarded for working around the system.  You can too.
